whats the difference between a nervous breakdown and poor mental health

I speak to a lot of men who find themselves not feeling good mentally but a lot of this is self inflicted, drinking every night, people pleasing and doing a job you hate, finding yourself with no purpose in life. That person a lot of the time spends ages in that rut. The pain isnt a great feeling but its not despair pain like someone whos been rattled with a nervous breakdown.

I was running a business, I grew a gym from the back of a run down van into 2 private personal gyms supplying the public with a premium service. I dont drink, I choose not to socialise much, my focus and intentions are clear to know who I am, to support my family and live a life on our terms.

So if a man like me who knows a lot about fitness and health, had a purpose and felt untouchable found himself crying in bed and couldnt cope with the symptoms, could end up like this after one panic attack then anyone can.

2020 wasnt my first rodeo with anxiety, its hit me at the age of 14, 21 and in 2020 when I was 29 and let me get this straight, each time was worse.

it went like this

one panic attack
daily onslaught of symptoms
worry, panic attacks, depersonalisation, memory loss, insomnia and the list goes on
I wasnt getting better I was getting worse

theres a lot of people who experience just one blip and thats it, it doesnt become chronic and on the other hand that one man who was once successful, driven and never thought he could end up asking for help is desperate

I feel you. Its not like you dont want to change, its more of a case of you cant find the right answers

Previous to finally finding answers I must have spent thousands on calls, private help, to leaving a 1 hour counselling session where all we spoke about was my past

I didnt care for digging into the past, I needed help now

id leave more confused and highly stressed

what changed? I found the right information that changed my life forever, a book called at last a life by paul david, a man ive never met but has had a huge impact on my life, so much so in 2020 when I had to go through the recovery process again using his advice ive now created my own anxiety recovery book and coaching program, the turbulence system

because someone with chronic anxiety needs a healing period, you need time to allow your nerves to recover and somehow ignore and pay no attention to the symptoms no matter how loud they shout

when the symptoms come in no matter how loud they scream, shout and want you to run, you let the storm enter and let that storm act up as much as it wants, you remain calm and eventually the storm passes

this is why I harp on about building a life purpose, you can connect life purpose with a few different areas

health and fitness
travel and lifestyle
business and impact

the purpose becomes your focus, double down with the understanding of whats going on, you give your nervous system a chance to recover and now anxiety becomes a blip that happened to you for a reason

if this hit home and you want the exact process I used to get through it, grab my book Turbulence and start taking control today
